How To Install This modem

Hardware Installation

  1. Locate the IRQ jumpers and COM Port jumpers near the bottom end of the modem
  2. Refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2 (in the user’s manual) for all available options, and choose the proper setting for your modem. You may use the table below for reference:

Note: Please remembers to disable any on-board COM1 or COM2 serial port of your computer before choosing COM1 or COM2 for modem. Refer to your system manual on how to disable the COM Port

 

Setup Modem in Windows 95

  1. Start Windows 95, click the Start button and run the Control Panel from Settings
  2. Click the Add New Hardware icon and let the Add New Hardware Wizard detect the modem hardware
  3. Click the Detail button when Add New Hardware Wizard finishes its detection. A successful detection will automatically select the proper Communication Port for you. Click the Finish button to complete the process.
  4. Click the Modems icon in the Control Panel. Click Next> button when the Install New Modem window appears
  5. Windows 95 will query the new modem and detect it as a Standard Modem. Click the Change… button and then click the Have Disk… button. Insert the HIGH SPEED MODEM DRIVER disk into a floppy drive and let the wizard read the disk
  6. Select Rockwell V.34 33.6K PC SVD modem (SVDF), and click OK to complete the setup when needed

 

Setup Modem in Windows NT 4.0

  1. Start Windows NT, click the Start button and run the Control Panel from Settings
  2. Double click the Ports icon and click the Add… button to select the COM port, Base I/O Address, and IRO that you have chosen during the hardware installation, then click OK to confirm
  3. Click the Setting… button for the new COM port and change the Baud Rate to 115200. Set Data Bits to 8, Parity to None, Stop Bits to 1, and Flow Control to Hardware.
  4. Click the Modems icon in the Control Panel. Click Next> button when the Install New Modem window appears
  5. Windows NT will query the new modem and detect it as a Standard Modem. Click the Change… button and then click the Have Disk… button. Insert the HIGH SPEED MODEM DRIVER disk into a floppy drive and let the wizard read the disk
  6. Select Rockwell V.34 33.6K SVD modem (SVDF), and click OK to complete the setup

 

Setup Modem in Windows 3.x

  1. Run Windows and click on the Control Panel icon in the MAIN group
  2. Click on the Ports icon, and double click on the COM port that you have chosen during the hardware installation
  3. Manually change the Baud Rate to 19200. Set Data Bits to 8, Parity to None, Stop Bits to 1, and Flow Control to Hardware. Then click on the Advanced… button
  4. Set the Base I/O Port Address according to the table in hardware installation
  • Note: If a program requires you to select a name for this modem, you may use selections such as Hayes compatible, Hayes error correcting, or default options if available
  •  

    Install America Online

    1. Choose Run in Windows menu and type A:\SETUP (or B:\SETUP)
    2. If this is your first time to install America Online, the program will start searching for modem(s) in your computer
    3. If America Online cannot detect your modem, click the Skip This Step button to bypass the search, because your version of America Online might not have this modem under its list
    4. Click the Install button to complete the program installation
    5. Click the AOL icon to start America Online
    6. When you are asked if you have the setting correct, click No to continue
    7. Manually select the COM port of your modem (For example, factory default is COM4), and set the baud rate to 57600, and select Hayes Compatible(error correcting) modem using the Select Modem button
